How to Completely Detox From Sugar in 10 Days

1. Make a decision to detox.

In my book, there are three simple quizzes to help you learn if you need to detox. If you answer, “yes” to any of these questions, a sugar detox is your ticket to feeling great quickly and losing weight painlessly.

The first is the diabesity quiz.

  • Do you have pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes? (90 percent of Americans have not been diagnosed.)
  • Do you have belly fat?30086568_MrP_NoCandy_answer_2_xlarge
  • Are you overweight?
  • Do you crave sugar and carbs?
  • Do you have trouble losing weight on low-fat diets?
  • Do you have high triglycerides, low HDL (“good”) cholesterol, or been told your blood sugar is “a little high?”

The second is a food addiction quiz.

  • Do you eat when you’re not hungry?
  • Do you experience a food coma after eating?
  • Do you feel bad about your eating habits or avoid certain activities because of your eating?
  • Do you get withdrawal symptoms if you cut down or stop eating sugar or flour?
  • Do you need more and more of same bad foods just to feel good?

The third is the FLC Quiz (or the Toxicity Quiz). FLC stands for Feel Like Crap. FLC Syndrome has a list of symptoms including bloating, gas, reflux, irritable bowel, joint or muscle pain, brain fog, memory or mood problems, sinus or allergy symptoms, and more. Millions of us have FLC Syndrome and don’t realize that we are only a few days away from health and happiness.

2. Be a turkey (a cold one).

There is no way to handle a true physiological addiction except to stop it completely. Addicts can’t have just one line of cocaine or just one drink. Go cold turkey. But you won’t have to white-knuckle it because if you follow these 10 ideas, you will automatically reset your body’s neurotransmitters and hormones.

The Science of Cats: Studies Show How Cat Videos Boost Our Energy & Emotional State

Cats are a monumental part of the internet. If something was to represent the internet, it would probably be a picture of a cat surfing on pizza through the universe.

In 2014 alone, over 2 million cat videos were posted on youtube with a growing reach of 26 billion views collectively. People love the cute, cuddly and hilarious energy of felines; and for good reason.

lil-bubA new study at an Indiana University shows that watching uplifting cat videos boosts your energy and decreases negative feelings.

Lead by assistant professor Jessica Gall Myrick, the study consisted of almost 7,000 people being surveyed about their cat viewing experience and how it affects their moods.

It was published in the latest issue of Computers in Human Behavior. Lil Bub’s owner, Mike Bridavsky, who lives in Bloomington, helped distribute the survey via social media.

“Some people may think watching online cat videos isn’t a serious enough topic for academic research, but the fact is that it’s one of the most popular uses of the Internet today,” Myrick said. “If we want to better understand the effects the Internet may have on us as individuals and on society, then researchers can’t ignore Internet cats anymore.

We all have watched a cat video online, but there is really little empirical work done on why so many of us do this, or what effects it might have on us,” added Myrick, who owns a pug but no cats. “As a media researcher and online cat video viewer, I felt compelled to gather some data about this pop culture phenomenon.” Continue reading

3 Reasons Why Our Modern Relationships Are Falling Apart

The current divorce rate in North America is higher than ever at about 50%.  Break ups happen all the time, and are quite frankly a part of life.  Relationships are meant to be appreciated and learned from most of the time.  But why are they so hard to keep from failing?  Why do so many people experience failed relationship after failed relationship? What is it about the way we live as a culture that makes relationships come and go with the wind?

Break ups happen all the time and are often attributed to things like financial problems, personality differences, or boredom.  I think these reasons are valid but are superficial to some much deeper problems that lie at the root of all failed relationships.  The actual reasons why people break up usually elude both parties who are both unable to pinpoint what went wrong.

Here are 3 main reasons why so many relationships end up failing.  Hopefully this helps improve the quality of your relationship!

1) Lack of communication and clarity

Communication is the most important thing to maintaining a healthy relationship.  When you let things bottle up in a relationship (even small things) it will get stored within you.  At first, it may not seem like it is impacting you very much, until it starts piling up and building up over time.  By staying silent instead of saying something like “Hey could you not talk to me like that please?”, you end up holding on to how their actions affected you and end up subconsciously resenting them for hurting you.

This remains in your energy field as residual energy, and as it continues to develop over the course of several years from not being communicated properly, you end up getting “sick” of the person and no longer want to even hear from them.  When you do break up from them, you feel totally relieved because you have now released yourself from the burden of carrying around all of those unexpressed thoughts and emotions.  All you had to do was communicate to them exactly how you feel when you felt it, and there would be no tipping point where you would need to break things off for good.

2) Loving from the mind instead of the heart

Most people aren’t actually in love.  They are in love with the idea of being loved.

In past relationships, I used to rehearse instances in my mind involving my relationship that made me feel as though I was loved.  I would repeat phrases in my mind, or visualize past occurrences, and then would get that warm feeling inside.  One of these past relationships lasted for a few months, and was not actually grounded in anything substantial (unless you think texting, Facebook, and Skype is substantial).  I was confusing the thought of being loved with the actual experience of love.  I think this is what often happens in a lot of divorce and break-up situations.  People hang on to the relationship because the idea of not being loved by them is too painful to bear, or the idea of being loved feels good inside.

When someone tells you “I love you”, oxytocin and seratonin get released in the body immediately.  If you keep revisiting this phrase in your mind over and over, these chemicals will be released continuously which is why you still get that same feeling days, hours, or years after the initial event.  Literally, the thought-feeling of being loved is the same biochemically as actually hearing someone say it in real life.  So, often times we don’t even interact with the raw boundless essence of true love, we only interact with the personal idea of being loved and the chemicals it produces.  Below is image showing us what parts of the brain are deactivated by love.

We see “I love you so much!! <3? on our phone, or typed out in an email with a smiley face, and we feel good inside.  We get those warm butterflies when we reflect upon it, and our brains adjust to a new state which is less fearful and more blissful.  We may even think “Wow this person really loves me.  I love them so much oh my gosh, finally someone who truly loves me.”  This creates a superficial sensation in our energy field, a shift in our chemistry, and a sort of mood, which we attribute to the works of the true love that everybody talks about.

Most relationships don’t go past this superficial fake kind of love and into the deep soul to soul connection with another person.  Both people live in their heads as their ego and interact with their partner as an idea within their thought world.  When this mentally-involved love gets old or stops resulting in corresponding emotions for someone, they then figure that they have stopped loving their partner.

3) Lack of trust

If you don’t trust your partner, it is toxic to you because it gives you anxiety and pollutes your mind with thoughts of worry.  It’s also toxic to your partner, who has to constantly defend themselves and try to prove their commitment over and over.  If you keep experiencing lack of trust in your relationship, there is usually only 1 main reason why this is happening:

Someone is insecure.  Maybe they have a history of abandonment and have been emotionally damaged.  This may make them a little more needy than the average person, because they need to know that they are genuinely appreciated and loved.  They will look way too deeply into little things their partner says and does and conclude that they must not love them, even though there is no problem.  Their partner may begin to get annoyed and irritated, which is why this is toxic to both people involved.

It’s kind of like training really hard summer after summer to be on the basketball team. You diet properly, get proper rest, and play the game extremely well.  The coach sees you take a break for a minute during tryouts and then accuses you of not wanting it enough, even though you have already proven to him that you do.  You would feel both angry and hurt.

This can actually be made into something non-toxic and actually spiritually healing of they are both open and transparent about why it is they feel insecure.  It may be a chance for that person to heal from their damage, and maybe their partner can work with them to talk it out and build them back up.  When people say things like “B*tches be crazy”, when they really mean is “My girlfriend is insecure and doesn’t know how to reach out for reassurance. I am either not making her feel loved enough, or she has defense systems in place from past relationships to protect her from getting hurt”.

What lack of trust usually means is that someone doesn’t trust themselves with the ability to go through the pain if the relationship were to end.  They ultimately lack self-trust and the confidence that they can deal with the emotional weight of an ending.  Once again, this needs to be openly communicated or else it will continue to be corrosive for both parties involved.

All of these reasons ultimately have to do with honesty with ourselves and with our partners.  If we are brave enough to be vulnerable and transparent, relationships are much less of a mental headache and more of a spiritual/emotional journey.

5 Ways To Visualize And Create The Life of Your Dreams

If you know about the Law of Attraction, you’ve likely heard that it is important to visualize your dreams in order to draw them closer to you.  While this definitely true, it is important that we visualize properly in order to manifest.  Improper visualization can actually push our dreams further away from us.

Here are a few tips on how to visualize your dreams effectively.  Following these steps will help you  use the Law of Attraction with success:

1) Be specific

In the initial stages of visualization, it’s best to identify as many aspects about this manifestation as you can.  For example, if you want to attract a new car, take the time to figure out the exact model and all of the options that you would optimally want.shutterstock_286247822

We’ve all had the experience of “almost” getting what we want, like getting the right car at the right price but in the wrong color.  As you progress through these steps, the universe will start to bring you what you’ve been thinking about, and if you haven’t thought at all about a key detail, your dream might manifest without it.

Therefore, it is best to fully identify what you want so it manifests properly the first time, and you don’t have to go back to the drawing board after an “almost perfect” item has shown up in your reality.

2) Focus only on what’s wanted

When you are trying to visualize something to manifest (like maybe a new job), stick ONLY to the aspects that you want.

In other words, you wouldn’t want to be thinking during your visualization “I don’t want a lot of meetings” or “I don’t want a boss who’s a control freak.”

shutterstock_291176792Thoughts like these will conjure an image in your mind of a lot of meetings or a controlling boss.  Visions like these make it more likely that the universe will bring you a job that has these exact things that you do not want.

You get the things that you are thinking about, so in this scenario it would be better to say things  like “I want a lot of time to work independently” or “I want a boss who is flexible and understanding.”  Then, visualize working independently and having a flexible, understanding boss.

Manage your thoughts during your visualization to ensure that they focus only on the wanted.

3) Let the universe decide how it happens

Please make sure that you don’t spend any effort or time visualizing how your dream will manifest.

For example, let’s say that you want a 60 inch screen television.  Do not make it part of your vision to imagine yourself going to the store and buying it.shutterstock_326237924

The reason this is important is that the universe can deliver your dreams in an infinite number of ways.  It may be easier and quicker for your dream to come in a way you’ve never considered.

Maybe you’ll win the television in a raffle your friend entered you in without your knowledge, or a coworker needs to move suddenly and simply gifts their brand new TV to you.

Stick only to the end outcome. It is your job to decide what you want, but it is the universe’s job to decide how to bring it to you.

4) Immerse yourself in the vision to feel like you have it

shutterstock_346780844Once you have clearly identified exactly what you want, allow yourself to be totally immersed in the vision.

If it’s a dream vacation, do a google search and look at pictures on the internet of the destination, the airport you’d arrive in and the hotel you’d be staying at.  If it’s a new cell phone, go to the mobile store and pick up the phone, look at it and play with it.  If it isn’t something tangible, simply spend some time fantasizing about having it.

The goal here is to begin feeling like you already have what you want.  Feeling as if you have your dream will bring you into the frequency of actually having it.

5) Let go

This is the most important step and the one most people get stuck on.  After you’ve properly defined what you want and immersed yourself in the vision, you must let go in order for manifestation to occur!

Do not obsess over this visualization any more.  You have done your job of visualizing exactly what you want, now you must send the universe a message that you expect for it to arrive.

Sitting down day after day to visualize sends a message that you are focused on not having what you want.  Focusing on not having something creates a situation where it will continue not to come.

You’ve very likely had several experiences where you wanted something very badly for a long time and you just couldn’t seem to take your mind off of it.  Finally one day you said “I give up on this! I’m ready to move on with my life!” and then WHAM! it manifested almost immediately.

Remind yourself of times like these to help you let go when you are working with your new dreams.  Paradoxically, if you can make it ok for your dream not to come true, it will come true.  Surrender your vision to the universe and then get back to living your life.

Again, to manifest your dream using the Law of Attraction, visualization is important, but you must take care to visualize in a way that draws your dream closer rather than pushes it away.

Please remember to be specific, focus on the wanted, let the universe decide the “hows,” immerse yourself in the feeling of having and (most importantly) let go when you have completed your visualization. If you can complete each of these steps you will be able to manifest your dreams quickly and easily!

Studies Show Group Meditation Lowers Crime, Suicide, & Deaths In Surrounding Areas

There is a lot of talk about meditation as being an essential practice to cultivate overall wellness.  But meeditation is not just a way to cope with stress and seek inner knowledge.  It literally has the potential to literally transform the world.

By transform the world, I don’t just mean transform individuals who meditate.  When large numbers of people get together and meditate at the same time, it has an energetic ripple effect on the consciousness of the surrounding people.  People who aren’t even meditating are impacted by the effects of the meditators. Let’s look at some of the scientific studies that prove this to be the case.

What studies have revealed

In 1978, what is known as the “Maharishi Effect” took place when a group of 7000 individuals over the course of 3 weeks were meditating in hopes of positively effecting the surrounding city. They were able to literally transform the collective energy of the city which reduced global crime rates, violence, and casualties during the times of their meditation by an average of 16%.

People who were not even meditating and had no idea that this experiment was even happening were being an impacted by such a degree that it caused a statistical change in their behaviour.

Suicide rates and automobile accidents also were reduced with all variables accounted for. In fact, there was a 72% reduction in terrorist activity during the times at which this group was meditation.

A specific study published in Psychology, Crime & Law found that crime rate dropped by 13% in Merseyside, Great Britain during time when people were meditating in large groups, whereas a control city where people where not meditating in large groups saw a steady crime rate.  As the study concluded:

There were 255,000 less crimes in Merseyside from 1988 to 1992 than would have been expected had Merseyside continued to follow the national crime trend. Demographic changes, economic variables, police practice, and other factors could not account for the changes.

shutterstock_203246677

Almost 50 studies have been done further confirming the benefits of global meditation and it’s direct impact on everything in the world, with another study being published in Social Indicators Research which showed an overall violent crime rate drop by 15% when 4000 participants participated in group meditation.

We know meditation has endless health and psychological benefits, but it is now being explored by politics and sociology because of its undeniable impact on the behaviour of other people.

How can this be explained?

The secret of the Global Maharishi Effect is the phenomenon known to Physics as the ‘Field Effect’, the effect of coherence and positivity produced from the field of infinite correlation—the self-referral field of least excitation of consciousness—the field of Transcendental Consciousness, which is basic to creation and permeates all life everywhere.

shutterstock_676625Meditation takes your consciousness to the implicate levels of existence where your intentions have consequential effects on the explicate level that we interact with before it even manifests.

Consciousness gives rise to the material.  The key idea is that all of existence emanates out of a field of universal consciousness, called the Unified Field or Super String Field.

Simply put, consciousness is a fundamental property of the universe, and since all levels of reality arise out of consciousness, all levels of reality are affected by the frequency of vibration of the superstrings within this field of consciousness.

Here is theoretical physicist Dr. John Hagelin explaining more about this Unified Field:

“I think the claim can be plausibly made that the potential impact of this research exceeds that of any other ongoing social or psychological research program. It has survived a broader array of statistical tests than most research in the field of conflict resolution. This work and the theory that informs it deserve the most serious consideration by academics and policy makers alike.” — David Edwards Ph.D., Professor of Government, University of Texas at Austin.

This effect is still ripe with investigation to this day. Here is a video on the power of group meditation:
