If you were born in the middle of the month you may have been born on a zodiac cusp. A cusp is the term we use to describe a person born in the middle of two astrological signs. It can be a little difficult to tell “Which sign do I read for?” when you’re stuck in the middle. Well, it’s the one that sounds most like you! If it resonates with you, then it’s for you. Simple as that!
The Cusps Explained
Those born on a horoscope cusp are a true blend of both astrological signs. This is because the dates of demarcation between the signs change very slightly, depending on the exact moment the sun moves into a particular constellation, from year to year.
You may wonder why this happens. A horoscope cusp occurs because even though a year is 365 days long, it actually takes the sun 365 days, 4 hours, 35 minutes and 12 seconds to make a complete rotation through all twelve of the zodiac signs. Because of this, the energies tend to blend.
The Zodiac Cusp Dates
As you read these horoscope cusp dates, keep in mind that they will fluctuate slightly from year to year. To counteract this fluctuation, and any ensuing confusion, astrologers dedicate a specific swath of dates for these cusp times. They are as follows. (Also please keep in mind, all this changes if you decide to go by the 28 day, 13 month calendar)
Date | Cusp Signs |
April 16 – April 22 | Aries/Taurus Cusp |
May 17 – May 23 | Taurus/Gemini |
June 17 – June 23 | Gemini/Cancer |
July 17 – July 23 | Cancer/Leo |
August 19 – August 25 | Leo/Virgo |
September 19 – September 25 | Virgo/Libra |
October 19 – October 25 | Libra/Scorpio |
November 19 – November 23 | Scorpio/Sagittarius |
December 19 – December 23 | Sagittarius/Capricorn |
January 16 – January 22 | Capricorn/Aquarius |
February 15 – February 21 | Aquarius/Pisces |
March 17 – March 23 | Pisces/Aries |
Capricorn-Aquarius (between 1/16-1/22) – The Cusp of Mystery & Imagination
“Capriquarians” often lead unusual lives. It can be a bit of a struggle to balance the two very different sides of their personalities. they are often quiet, yet they like to be social. They crave security but they like their independence. They may be a bit old fashioned, but they like to try new things as well.
Capricorn-Aquarius cuspers love to chat and entertain close friends. They especially enjoy intellectually stimulating conversations about any manner of strange or taboo topics.
That is why no matter how hard they work, life with a Capriquarian will never be dull.
While hard-work will often bring these cuspers success in most career endeavors, they can have more difficulty than usual maintaining their personal relationships. This is more than likely due to their need for independence, and a tendency to seem aloof and critical. However, if they can put forth the loyal, funny and friendly sides of themselves they’ll make fast friends.
Aquarius-Pisces (2/15-2/21) – The Cusp of Sensitivity
“Aquisces” cuspers are usually very artistic, spiritual, peace-loving and friendly. They are stimulated by visionary ideas and new experiences. They are also highly intelligent, however they tend to struggle with practical details and follow through. This is the cusp most likely to be labeled “offbeat” or “eccentric.”
These cuspers are true ambiverts. They love their alone time and they love to be social. Spending time with others is highly enjoyable and a great stress relief to them, but at the same time they are so sensitive they often choose to hide out alone and escape into their imaginations instead.
Aquarius-Pisces is also arguably the most intuitive and altruistic cusp placement.
They typically have a natural, psychic and compassionate connection to the rest of the world. Delving into spiritual matters and philosophical ideals is much more important to these folks than simply managing the details of day-to-day life. For this reason they may lose things, forget appointments and frequently show up late, if at all.
Pisces-Aries (3/17-3/23) – The Cusp of Rebirth
Because they combine a certain fearlessness with compassion for others, “Pisaries” cuspers have a natural ability to push limits and bring others along with them toward success. It’s all about generating new ideas, working hard to put them in effect and then playing hard to reduce the stress.
A little on the impatient side, Pisaries people can sometimes cause issues due to their refusal to compromise. After all, why bother to compromise when you are always right? ;)
If those born on this cusp can just work a little harder on their social skills and try to hold their patience, their lives will be much easier.
In fact, when they can balance the two sides of their personalities they work well together – Pisces can calm Aries hasty temper, while Aries has the drive to make Pisces’ dreams a reality.
Aries-Taurus (4/16-4/22) – The Cusp of Power
Strong willed and a tad domineering, “Aritaurs” are natural born leaders. They’ll take charge at work or at home, and the two signs’ energies often mix well for success. Aries gives powerful dominant energy and a strong push forward toward lifes goals while the practical side Taurus takes care of all the details.
You may need to watch that one is not being too forceful, and barreling right over the opinions and desires of others.
Those born on the Aries-Taurus cusp can’t stand watching someone complete a task when they know they could do a better job themselves. How do they know that? Because they’re quite opinionated!
Being opinionated isn’t always a bad thing, it’s just important to find balance. You will need to tone down the urge to ‘win’ all the time. and learn to better respect the feelings of others. Other than that, they are for the most part funny, strong and dependable individuals. They are probably the first of your friends that you should call when you’re in a jam.
Taurus-Gemini (5/17-5/23) – The Cusp of Energy
Taurini’s are physically strong with a brilliant mind. It makes them stable and motivated, as well as clever and communicative. Such traits give these cuspers the ability to adapt to many different situations and people.
One important thing a taurini need to keep an eye on is overindulging. Taurus and Gemini are both pleasure-loving signs.
In fact, burning the candle at both ends to the point of fatigue could become a problem for Taurus-Gemini because they’re having so much fun they don’t want to stop. It’s important that they find a balance between work and play so they don’t wear themselves out.
As long as they are respectful to those around them and don’t offend, interrupt, or talk over people, they are a great pleasure to have around. If these high energy cuspers can learn to sit back, relax, and really have a deep listen to the people around them, they’ll probably be very successful in life and have more friends than they can count.
Gemini-Cancer (6/17-6/23) – The Cusp of Magic
“Gemancers” (yeah I know, that one sounds a little silly) are inquisitive, affectionate, devoted and sensitive.
Gemini’s fun and flirtatious energy combines with Cancer’s calm and more thoughtful nature to create people who are both light and bright.
Gemini’s restlessness is well balanced by Cancer’s sensitivity, resulting in a well-rounded soul.
They absolutely love an adventure. It doesnt matter if it’s just a walk through the woods or a trip to the local museum. They love to get out and have a memorable experience.
Sensitive and affectionate Gemini-Cancer cuspers give and (and need to receive) a lot of love. They strive for it. So, without a special someone to love and care for they can easily become depressed.
Cancer-Leo (7/19-7/25) – The Cusp of Oscillation
Cancer-Leo’s are loving, expressive, cheerful and passionate. Even so, if you were born on the Cancer-Leo cusp then you probably have some challenges to face. When you combine the sensitive nature of Cancer and the expressive drama of Leo, your life may be one of extreme ups and downs!
Cancer-Leo cuspers can be very sensitive and shy one moment, and a complete theatrical drama queen the next.
This is because they’re born of a conflicting mix of water (Cancer) and fire (Leo), which will take a lot of patience and discipline to mix successfully. If you can learn to center yourself and find more balance, your life will be filled with lots of love and lasting relationships.
If you struggle to find a balance between the two signs in life, try activities like group yoga or volunteer work. They will help keep you connected to others so you don’t become too self-involved.
Leo-Virgo (8/19-8/25) – The Cusp of Exposure
Leo-Virgo cuspers are hardworking, passionate, success-driven and honest. Since Leo is a Fire sign and Virgo is an Earth sign, there are some opposing elements to your personality. Leo’s flair for drama and Virgo’s down to earth practicality don’t always mix well.
Because these cuspers were born between such very different signs, it’s hard to say which way they’ll lean. Some on the Leo-Virgo cusp gravitate more toward Leo’s need for drama and attention, while others are more like Virgo and prefer a quiet, less social lifestyle.
Regardless of that, your personality will most likely be hardworking and passionate, especially when dedicated to a particular cause. If they can strike a balance between their extroverted and introverted sides, they will master the rare ability to know exactly when to speak up and when to remain silent.
Virgo-Libra (9/19-9/25) – The Cusp of Beauty
It’s not hard to guess why this cusp is called “The Cusp of Beauty”. They are ruled by the communication planet Mercury and the love planet Venus, which lends them the rational qualities of Virgo as well as the creative and social attributes of Libra. It’s the best of both worlds!
Beauty cuspers are always up to date on the latest trends. They love all things of beauty, including people, art and nature. They strive to keep their personal appearance and their home aesthetically pleasing, but they must avoid taking this too far at the risk of becoming superficial.
In fact, most Virgo-Libra cuspers are not superficial at all! They are deep thinkers with sharp analytical skills and a strong work ethic, and that combination is a thing of beauty, indeed.
Libra-Scorpio (10/19-10/25) – The Cusp of Drama and Criticism
Libra-Scorpio cuspers, born between the signs of Libra and Scorpio, are ruled by two passionate planets, Venus and Pluto, which is a super sexy combination. In fact, this cusper’s intellect, drive, flamboyance and sexuality may be too much for some others to handle!
These individuals have Libra’s great judgment and Scorpio’s precision, which makes them a force to be reckoned with.
They have such big personalities and are so accomplished, in fact, they must watch out for becoming arrogant or insisting on doing everything their own way.
You’ll be happiest in life if you can learn how to balance your intellectual side with your emotional side. You’ll need to work on keeping your ego in check so you don’t rub people the wrong way.
Scorpio-Sagittarius (11/18-11/24) – The Cusp of Revolution
“Scorsagiun” cuspers are energetic, adventurous, powerful, accomplished, generous, passionate and humorous. Individuals born between the signs of Scorpio and Sagittarius are ruled by the planets Pluto, Mars and Jupiter, and are a dynamic mix of Scorpio intensity and bold Sagittarius action. The result is a fearless individual quite capable of running wild!
If they can learn to channel all that energy toward something productive, these cuspers are likely to be successful at most endeavors because they’re not afraid to charge ahead, speak their minds freely and pursue their passions.
Scorpio-Sagittarius who learn to balance their complex personalities are well liked, and appreciated for their good humor and open minds.
Sagittarius-Capricorn (12-18-12/24) – The Cusp of Prophecy
Optimistic Sagittarius and practical Capricorn make a great mix, giving these cuspers the happy-go-lucky attitude and realistic vision to dream up big plans and turn them into reality. Often these plans are so forward-thinking they actually have a hand in shaping the future!
“Sagicorns” are outgoing and friendly, but also reliable and responsible. They are always prepared to do their best at any endeavor, and would especially excel at an adventurous career related to language or travel.
The biggest challenge here is balancing Sagittarius’ desire to go fast with Capricorn’s slow and steady pace.
But no matter which direction these friendly and hardworking cuspers take, they’ve got the right balance of cosmic energy to be the best at whatever they choose.
So? Are any of you on the cusp between two Sun signs? If so, are these accurate descriptions of you?
H/T to Tarot.com
I was born 2 minutes before the 19th of December does that make me a cusper.
But seriously, is what they’re saying about the Leo wrong? Can you honestly name all the Leos you know and say that more than half of them aren’t like that? But I agree about Leo always getting the raw end of the stick, because I feel like Aquariuses and Gemini’s pyscopathic tendencies are always downplayed.
Sagicorn on point!
Getting tired of having Leo be constantly described as “drama queen, dramatic, or flamboyant!”
Leo is symbolized by the mighty and fierce lion and is the only sign ruled by the vital and powerful Sun. It should be described in fiercer, more powerful terms. It’s strong, intense, courageous, tempermental, and dominant and should be described as such.
Plus, whoever first came up with the cusps (astrologers differ on whether or cusps even exist since an exact Sun sign can always be calculated) was biased towards Leo because the Leo cusps were the only ones that were described mostly negatively.
I feel like who ever came up with the idea of “cusps” (astrologers differ on whether or not cusp even exist since an exact Sun sign can always be calculated) was biased towards Leos because it seems like the Leo cusps were the only ones described mostly negatively despite Leo’s reputation for power and regality.
You’re on to something, keep digging. I know exactly what you’re going to find, but I don’t want to ruin the fun of the journey getting there. <3
You have it down to a science right on the money. Job well done. Thank you for your great work.
