Native American astrology is celebrated for its profoundly deep and in-depth representative abilities. Dating back nearly 5000 years ago, Native American astrological signs are all based on the spiritual alignment of an individual to their totem.
Zodiac signs are based on the Mesoamerican calendar, created with the aim to harmonize life with long-held animal myths and legends. Animals, as part of Native American cultures, have the power to educate humans through life lessons and spiritual guidance.
Otter (January 20 – February 18)
Often perceived as unconventional, the otter isn’t always the first one to get the job done. However, while the otter may have an unusual way of looking at things, he/she is the most equipped with a wide skill set of brilliant imagination and intelligence – giving them unique leverage over the competition.
Wolf (February 19 – March 20)
The wolf is the most emotional and sentimental of the signs – both physically and in the philosophical sense. Contradictorily, the wolf needs their freedom to roam free and wild. Striking both equally is a delicate, but worthwhile, balance for the wolf.
Falcon (March 21 – April 19)
Natural born leaders, the falcon is always looked to for guidance and judgment in challenging situations. The falcon is the first to take action, which unfortunately, can often times be perceived as conceited or arrogant. However, in the right supportive environment, the falcon will thrive for their unparalleled leadership.
Beaver (April 20 – May 20)
The beaver means business. Dead set on maximizing efficiency and strategy, the beaver is the most driven and methodical of the signs. While this can sometimes come across as, “my way or the highway,” when others understand the compassion and underlying logical dialogue of the beaver, their hard work will be embraced and celebrated!
Deer (May 21 – June 20)
Deer are known for the lively spirit and unparalleled communicative tenacity. As a great conversationalist and outgoing, the deer can sometimes be perceived as self-involved, their sparkly and genuine personality will silence any nay-sayers.
Woodpecker (June 21 – July 21)
The woodpecker is known for its nurturing and supportive presence. Looked to as the parental figure of the zodiac signs, the woodpecker is always resourceful, organized, caring and level-headed in every situation thrown at them. Naturally, when taken to their extreme, these naturally born guardians can be possessive and jealous if they ever feel unsafe.
Salmon (July 22 – August 21)
The electric energy and dead-set focus of the salmon is infectious. Always in search of the next goal or task, the salmon is up for any challenge. Unfortunately, without a strong support system, the salmon can be egotistical and intense. This, however, can be eased with supportive teamwork and group-based activities.
Bear (August 22 – September 21)
Pragmatic and methodical, the bear is known for their enormous heart and steady hand. Long held as the perfect business partners, the bear is modest and level-headed. While the bear is a natural born skeptic, their patience and strong temperance allows them to see tasks through to their successful completion.
Raven (September 22 – October 22)
As enthusiastic entrepreneurial leaders, the raven’s energetic spirit is infectious! In the right nurturing environment, the raven is often seen as the intuitive compass of relationships. While they may be taken as demanding, they are always coming from a genuine entrepreneurial head-space with their eyes on the communal prize.
Snake (October 23 – November 22)
The snake is the spiritual leader of the signs. While their impressive and mysterious healing capacities might frighten their peers, if their abilities are channeled in a positive and useful fashion, the snake’s born powers will be widely celebrated.
Owl (November 23 – December 21)
Known for their natural and warm easy-going nature, the owl is always up for a wholehearted loving adventure. Their attentive listening skills and conversational talents make them a friend to everyone they come across. While this may come across as excessive or hovering to some, when understood that it comes from a genuine place, they are easily forgiven.
Goose (December 22 – January 19)
With their eyes always on the prize, the goose’s perseverance and ambition is awe-worthy. Tempered with supportive and nurturing friends and family, the goose’s drive truly thrives. Their determination, if left to their own devices can become obsessive or addictive. However, if channeled towards a productive goal, the goose’s ambition is both inspiring and infectious.
