Forget The Spray – 9 Plants That Naturally Keep Mosquitos Away

If you are trying to enjoy the wonderful healing benefits of nature there is nothing more annoying then mosquitos keeping you from enjoying the great outdoors. Sure they are part of nature and should be respected but that doesn’t mean that they need to be biting you every chance they get.

Unfortunately, many of the ‘remedies’ out there involve spraying chemicals on your body that are not very good for you or the environment either.

That is why we recommend using nature’s natural defense in your yard to keep the mosquitos away so that you can meditate, garden, or enjoy more healing time outside.

1. Catnip

Plants are complex organisms that have been evolving for millions of years and with that comes a natural ability to defend themselves against foreign intruders. In this case, they will help keep mosquitos away from your yard and family.

According to one study catnip was actually found to be up to 10 times more effective at keeping mosquitos away than DEET!

If you are planning on putting this in your garden plant it away from your other plants as it will attract cats who can easily trample your garden. Continue reading

5 Curious Encounters with Fairies Throughout The Centuries

When we think of fairies we may think of children’s stories or movies on TV, but the belief in fairies is an ancient tradition that has been nearly forgotten by most folks. Many believers of the fairy world say that they live in a slightly different dimension than we do and that if we want to connect with them, and even see them, then we must come from a heart centered space. Then it is up to the fairy whether or not they’ll make themselves visible to us.

Even though most people have long since written off the possible existence of these tiny nature beings, many fascinating sightings continue to pop up.

1. A Dangerous Curiositylet-the-fairies-say-305x175

In 1853, during the middle of a summer’s day in County Donegal, Ireland, a boy by the name of Neil Colton was gathering berries behind his home with his cousin and brother when they started to hear the music.

They followed the sound around some large rocks where they saw around 6-8 people dancing around in a circle about 100 feet away. Once the dancers noticed the children, a small woman wearing red ran straight toward them.

As Colton described it there was a green rush and the women struck his female cousin on the face. The children became spooked, understandably, and ran for the house. Unfortunately, as soon as they arrived his cousin fell down as if she were dead.

The boy’s father called for the priest who quickly read from psalms and  struck the girl until she woke out of her deathlike state. The priest told the children that if the girl hadn’t grabbed onto Colton’s brother right away after being struck, she would have been taken away by the fairies and lost forever.

2. Lords Of The Dance

In August of 1862 Evan Lewis and David Evans said they were on their way to New Quay when they decided to stop to rest at a farm. While they were watching the reapers working the fields they looked up and saw around 50 figures on the hillside, about 370 meters or1,200 feet away. Continue reading

Modern Depression Is A Symptom of Our Society

Depression, or Major Depressive Disorder, is the number one cause of disability in the world for people aged 5 years or older. Approximately 1 in 8 children suffer from depression in the United States, and a total of about 14.8 million American adults have been diagnosed with the disorder. That’s a lot of people, and the number is frighteningly high when you consider depression is the main contributor to suicide, which claims more than a million lives per year.

Depression takes the most basic things we find joy in, and hides them away behind the shadows of sadness. Sleep, energy, focus, memory, and even libido are stolen from us. The loss of these simple necessities can destroy a person’s desire to love, play, work, and most notably, their will to live.dealing-with-distress-discouragement-and-spiritual-depression091911

In a recent TED Talk, Stephen Ilardi said, “Depression lights up the pain circuitry of the brain- to such an extent that it’s torment, it’s agony, it’s torture. And many begin to look to death, as a welcome means of escape.”

Ilardi, author of The Depression Cure, explains further to help us to understand what depression really is, what is really causing it, and how to make it really disappear.

Similar to our flight-or-flight response, the brain has what Ilardi refers to as a “runaway stress response.” He believes depression to be the result of prolonged exposure to this specific response. See, when our ancestors were faced with vicious predators or life-threatening dangers, the fight-or-flight response evolved to assist them with these situations. When the fight-or-flight response was answered with a feeling of safety, or security, the brain and body reverted to a state of reduced-stress. This reversion could only take place after the runaway stress response triggered intense physical activity, which could last for a few seconds or a few hours.

“The problem is for many people throughout the Western world, the stress response goes on for weeks, months and even years at a time, and when it does that, it’s incredibly toxic to the body and the brain,” Ilardi said.

The conditions in which we live today are extremely stressful, and this contributes to society’s rapid decline in health. Modern-day life disrupts our brain’s helpful chemicals, like dopamine and serotonin, which can cause sleep deprivation, brain damage, inhibited immune response, and inflammation. This finding led Ilardi to another fascinating discovery: “Depression is a disease of civilization.”sad-man-with-umbrella-walking-in-a-lonely-street-digital-art-artw_preview_e2cd

Just like diabetes, cancer, allergies, and asthma, depression is considered a disease of civilization. Have you ever wondered why these diseases are so pervasive nowadays but were unheard of within indigenous cultures and tribes? It’s because we weren’t meant to live our lives like this- flooding our stress-receptors with trivialities while consuming poisoned food after a long work-day behind a computer screen. 7 Common Misconceptions About Wiccans and Witchcraft

It’s amazing how many misconstrued assumptions about something can turn into “fact” when enough people repeat them. Witchcraft and Wicca are looked at with questionable, and oftentimes worrisome glances due to the amount of misinformation floating around out there.

As someone who practiced Wicca for over a decade, I would like to set the record straight about a few of the more widely-spread inaccurate misconceptions. Keep in mind, as with any other religion, there are bound to be some aspects left up to debate.

First, let’s take a look at what Wicca and witchcraft really are before we go on to clarify what they aren’t.

Wicca and witchcraft have much in common, but they are not exactly the same. Someone can be a witch, without being a Wiccan, just like someone can be a Christian, without being a Protestant. Wicca has been a recognized religion since the 1950’s, and is based on ancient witchcraft traditions and rituals.

Some of these traditions stem from Celtic origins, but that doesn’t mean Wicca is necessarily connected to the Celts or the Druids, though there are specific Celtic-Wicca denominations within the religion.

Despite what some might think about Wicca, it is actually a very peaceful and harmonious way of life. They see the universe as a balanced entity and promote oneness within all living beings and things. In fact, practicing Wicca is what brought to me my spiritual path; there are many similarities between Wicca and spirituality. You’ll see what I mean, as I continue to shine light on the subject at hand.

Wicca can be practiced either in a coven, or on your own. If you’re not one for social gatherings or don’t know where to find a local coven, I recommend Scott Cunningham’s book, “Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner” This book contains everything you need to know for living life magically, spiritually, and wholly attuned with nature.shutterstock_323994410

Now that we’ve gone over the very basic definition of Wicca, let’s get down to those misconceptions. All of which, I have heard far too often in life.

12 Real Animals That Make Earth Look Like An Alien Planet

This amazing planet is filled with creatures, critters, and all sorts of crazy-looking beings- many of which we haven’t even discovered. In fact, there are over 1,367,555 non-insect animals that have been identified, and that number represents only 1% of all animal species that have ever lived! All over the world, we come across the most beautiful animals…and the creepiest ones as well.

The following 12 animals are almost unheard of; join us as we discover what lies beyond their hidden mystery.

1. Pangolin

The pangolin is a solitary mammal. They are nocturnal, and will either sleep in burrows or trees during the day.

They basically look like a scaly anteater, and their diet consists of a variety of insects and insect larva. The body of a pangolin is covered with scales, which are made of keratin- the same protien that forms fingernails and human hair. Even though you might not have heard of the pangolin, they are the most illegally-trafficked animal, and have been poached to near-extinction.

2. Star-Nosed Mole

No, that’s not an alien facehugger coming out of that creature’s mouth, that’s actually it’s nose.

The star-nosed mole has a nose only half an inch in length, but it holds over 25,000 mechanoreceptors, called Eimer’s organs, which give it an incredible sense of smell. In fact, this animal has the most sensitive nose in the entire animal kingdom. Which comes in handy because it is nearly blind, and hunts most of it’s prey underground. Continue reading

3 of The Best Health Supplements For Chemtrail Protection

A couple weeks ago I was listening to an audio recording from a website called Oraclereport.com, which was discussing a combination of things including astrology, geopolitics and weather modification. During the weather modification segment, it was said that chemtrail warfare might begin to escalate as the cabal/NWO is being defeated and is seeking to fully enact their agenda in complete desperation.  (As a side note, if you are interested in astrology, geopolitical affairs or the combination of the two, I highly recommend reading into the work of Laura Walker at Oraclereport.com)

chemtrails-search-results

“Chemtrails” trending at its highest ever in April 2016.

The timing of this is significant because according to Google Trends, the keyword search for “chemtrails” was at it’s highest ever in Google’s history in April of 2016.

The link to this picture can be seen here.

Contributing to this was musician Prince’s youtube video where he discussed chemtrails, Chuck Norris (no this ins’t a Chuck Norris joke) writing an article exposing chemtrails and Vin Diesel also exposing the darkness of chemtrails on his facebook page.

As I was listening, I began to think about ways in which people can help protect themselves against the harmful effects chemtrails can create. At the moment, there are a few health supplements I am using that I will explain a little bit more about below. Continue reading
