Psychedelic Buddha: How to Get High Without Drugs

Serotonin is believed to be a main cause for feelings of peace, calm and fulfillment after a session of meditation [1].

Psychedelic Meditation

mckpsyThere also seems to be a correlation between meditation, serotonin and visual hallucinations [2].

When we meditate serotonin inhibits the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN). The LGN is a relay center in the visual pathway of the thalamus.

This reduces the transmission of visual information.

When there is no visual sensory stimulus to interpret, the brain starts to generate imagery internally.

The hallucinations are similar to the effects from serotonergic and psychedelic drugs like LSD and psilocybin. Psychedelic means “mind-revealing” – the purpose of meditation. Also, serotonin interacts with dopamine to make the experience euphoric. Continue reading

Do You Still Eat Hotdogs? You Might Want To Read This!

You may have seen this video before. I remember seeing this as a kid on the TV show “How It’s Made”.

This show is both amazing and harmful because it shows how things are created, but it’s only one facet of the truth. This show is a great example of how programmed we truly are. It seems as if, because the process of how hotdogs are made is open for all to watch, that it must not be THAT bad for us. You can watch them add the immense amount of salt, corn syrup and flavorings, so what’s the harm?

First of all, some meat that is ground up into hotdogs includes bone, cartilage and things like hooves.  They are the scraps from other animals. There is a whole other subtopic of how these animals are treated beforehand that leads to you eating a vibration that is essentially, trauma.

A big concern is the intense processing the meat goes through before reaching you. If you are a meat eater and get meat from a local farm, that is a different story. When you are buying mass produced meat scraps wrapped in plastic, there’s really no way to defend that it can be good for us.

There is a big confusion about nitrates and nitrites. Nitrates are in many vegetables like most leafy greens, beets, celery lettuce and much more. When you consume nitrates, your body processes a small amount of them into nitrites.

The problem is, sodium nitrite is a manufactured preservative added to hot dogs to help them maintain their signature pink color. In high heat, nitrites combine with amines in the processed meat to create nitrosamines. It is this combination that is carcinogenic and incredibly harmful.

It has been shown that nitrosamines can be linked to a variety of cancer and cellular damage within your body.

This is all clearly being created for convenience’s sake. There is no love or compassion going into creating hotdogs, for the very basis of their existence requires slaughter. If you are a meat eater, be extremely careful of any meat you consume. Many labels claim to be organic or all natural and just blatantly aren’t.

The Science of Color: How Our Favorite Colors Affect Our Personality

Everyone has a color they energetically relate to. Even if you don’t have a favorite color, there is probably a shade out there that you’re most drawn to. We often blend our styles and personas with those colors in the form of personal expression. It can be hair or nail color, the color of our clothes or accessories, or even the color of your room or office space.

There may be a color that makes you feel warm and happy when you see it, while another color may make you feel anxious or annoyed. While some colors tend to have a certain effect on most people, the results can occasionally vary from person to person. Here are the most common psychological effects on humans, for all the colors of the rainbow!

Red – Red corresponds to the base or root chakra. Most of us can agree that red is known as the color of passion and love, but surprisingly it can also be used on the other end of the spectrum; to represent aggression and war.

It is the color that grabs our attention before all others. It imbues a sense of heightened awareness and importance, such as use of a red carpets for VIPs. It also has the effect of appearing closer than it actually is, hence it’s use in traffic lights and stop signs all over the world.

Lighter shades of red may emphasize its energetic aspects – including youthfulness, impulsivity and risk taking – while darker shades emphasize power, and even durability, like a brick wall.

Orange – Orange still holds much of the powerful energy of the color red, while adding some of the warmth and softness from yellow. Like red, it pulls attention from a distance and has very high visibility.

Orange also increases hunger and appetite like yellow and red do, which is why all three colors are so commonly used by the food industry. Orange is often associated with excitement, enthusiasm, stimulation, change, and playfulness. It can be used to subtly draw attention and excitement to something, without adding too much rashness or severity. Continue reading

How To Get Through The Mainstream School System As An Awakened Child

A lot of you will be able to relate to this one.

Bullying in school isn’t something new, and it’s time we have a different perspective on it.Happy school children playing tug of war with rope in park

The design of the educational system, teachers that don’t care and restless kids are all factors in a negative school experience. My elementary school experience was extremely brutal, but it something that shaped me. I was bullied quite harshly – but at the same time I was also very mean to those around me. It was an ebb and flow of energy I did’t understand as a child.

Many children nowadays are more insightful, wise and sensitive than ever before. It’s easy to go to a school where at least a few kids won’t understand you – and therefore judge you. If you consider yourself an indigo child, or just someone who doesn’t seem to fit in – this is for you.

Everyone has their own unique qualities that make them who they are – but if you find yourself not relating to those around you, there may be something about your perspective that makes you different.

If you’re not easy to conform, if you question things and keep asking why in life, this can separate you from others. A gap of curiosity can form between you and those who don’t seem to care. Those who are too wrapped up in the latest trends, celebrity gossip or trivial matters will seem at the opposite end of the spectrum of you. This doesn’t mean they aren’t insightful or unique – it’s just their perspective.

If you feel part of something bigger, like there’s a fundamental misunderstanding in this world and you’ve come here to figure it out – this is for you.

Indigo Children: Are We Misdiagnosing Them With ADHD?

For decades, drugs have been the go to for parents who think they have a child with ADHD. Too many children grow up being synthetically forced to align with the general expectations of schools and psychologists in the last few decades; one wonders how different our generation of 25-35 year olds could have been.

A group of American psychologists now claim to have a completely different theory on why children may display what was once coined “ADD and ADHD”. They now claim that these children may in fact posses what some deem to be “supernatural powers.”

In reality, an indigo child is someone who is more sensitive, aware and naturally insightful than other children. It has nothing to do with being more special or unique than anyone else; it is just their perception of reality.

Vice did a documentary on Indigo children, and to be expected, it wasn’t very open minded. Vice is a great media source, but when it comes to spirituality, they aren’t as open to it.

Vice’s Gavin Haynes traveled through New York to potentially meet Indigo Children born in the 90’s. He wanted to understand more about them, how they feel and how their perceived psychic gifts have affected them.

While on this journey, Haynes encounters a mother and daughter duo who perform a full holistic dentistry examination, has his aura read and meets the Indigo rap duo “The Underachievers” who preach Indigoism as a way of life.

This documentary is interesting and informative even though it sways from being objective. It’s clear the narrator thinks the idea of indigo children is mostly a joke and can’t see the bigger picture. It’s both frustrating and interesting to watch, as he casts a subtle judgement on those who claim to be indigo. Continue reading
