How to Strengthen Your Intuition & Hear Your Inner Voice

To once live without someone and now never wanting to live without, opens the power that intuition can possess.

Every human has an internal guidance system known as intuition that can be heard and felt. “There are many voices in our heads. We have the voices of our parents, teachers, inner critique, and there is a silent intuitive guiding voice. We have to learn to listen to it. We hear it every day among the millions of voices we have in our heads,” says Verne. Intuition is always trying to speak up. “The voice of coulda, shoulda, thought of, thought so, and knew it are all signs of intuition.”

Each of us has the capability to develop and use our intuition. “It’s not very complicated, it’s finding the voice and experimenting with it,” says Verne. You’ll begin to feel your guidance and this will bring a better quality of life. Continue reading

How to Be Mindful: 4 Important Techniques

What does being mindful mean? You may have heard of mindfulness meditation but what does it mean to BE mindful? Mindfulness is defined as the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something. Being mindful means to have that awareness of everything around you. According to Jon Kabat-Zinn, “mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.”

baerefoot woodsMindfulness practitioners learn how to pay attention on purpose by practicing specially developed mindfulness meditation practices & mindful movements. Being mindful is an intentional way of being that you can cultivate on a daily basis. Being mindful means to be conscious and aware of all the things around you and how you affect them.

For instance, I live in a house that has a basement apartment below. I try to be conscious of the noise that I make and since I stay up very late at night doing things like writing articles I try my best to not disturb people sleeping in close proximity to my activities. I am careful not to wear shoes in my house and to walk lightly on my feet.

As a young man, I was taught by rainbow family elders to tread lightly in the woods. Not only does this mean to physically walk lightly, meaning on the front of your feet and not on your heels, but also to be aware of WHERE you step, HOW you step ,and even WHEN you step. Basically, this just means to be aware of how you affect your surroundings.

Another way to practice being mindful is with your voice. Not only can one take care in what they say but HOW they say it. The volume of one’s voice can also be important.

Do you use an inside voice when you’re outside? You may not get heard or may get asked to constantly repeat yourself. Do you use an outside voice when you’re inside? You may be so loud that you become annoying without even knowing it.

Being aware of your surroundings and the vibration you are putting forth in those surroundings is very important when being mindful.

There are many ways to become more mindful and mindfulness meditation is one of those ways. There are many mindfulness meditation resources on the web. Here are some tips on being more mindful…

  • Pay attention to your breathing. When all else fails always return to this tip.

  • Try to notice everything that you are doing when you’re doing something specific. For instance, if you are taking a shower notice the sound of the water, the temperature of the water, the smell of the soap and any other thing that you can sense. If you are eating notice the texture and the color of the food, its taste, its smell and texture.

  • Focus on the things that distract you. Pay attention to where you space out, for example, being on the computer, driving, doing household chores. Focus on bringing more awareness to those moments of distraction.

  • Be aware of people around you. Notice their eyes, their clothes. Take advantage of every moment and compliment someone or express affection.

Imagine a more mindful world!

Self-Mastery: How to Become Your Own True Love

A relationship is never the answer to your loneliness. Any feelings of emptiness, unhappiness, depression or self-hate can exist within you before you meet your partner. Most people tend to create new relationships based not on what they want, but in response to what they perceive to lack. They look outside of themselves, saying, “when I find someone, I will be happy, satisfied, and fulfilled’.

Screen Shot 2016-07-20 at 12.07.53 AMWhen they do find someone to have a relationship with, it is exciting and fulfilling for a few months, maybe a few years.

When the original feelings come up again, they can start blaming the other person for their loneliness, depression, self-hate and their unhappy life. The other person, in turn, may dim their own light, by demanding your energy, time, and your personality.

It is their fear, their pain and their depression that starts chasing you, sucking your energy and imprisoning your beautiful free soul. You may do the same to them because of your own emptiness.

NOTHING outside of yourself, not a relationship or another person, will ever bring you true happiness, fulfillment or peace of heart if you aren’t already happy with yourself.

You are your own hero, your own lover, your own answer to all of your prayers, and your own TRUE LOVE.

Today is the day to become your own True Love! Start to love every aspect of yourself, including all of your Darkness and your Light. Start to appreciate and love your own personality; become your own best friend.

Start to embrace all that you are in your divinity. Stop waiting for something or someone outside of you.

YOU are what you’ve been looking and waiting for the whole time. Stop searching, stop demanding. Each of us is a free, sovereign spirit, meant only to share and celebrate our true essences together. Continue reading

9 Activities Linked to a Longer Life

UCLA biologists have found a gene that can slow the aging process in the entire body when activated in specific organ systems.  While working with fruit flies, these scientists activated a gene known as AMPK that is an important energy sensor in cells; which gets activated when cellular energy levels are getting low.

dna_2759155b“AMP-activated protein kinase—an energy sensor that regulates all aspects of cell function. AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is a sensor of energy status that maintains cellular energy homeostasis.” – D. Grahame Hardie

In the study scientists found that increasing the amount of AMPK in fruit flies’ intestines increased their lifespans by about 30 percent.  This puts them living around 8 weeks instead of the average 6 weeks.

This is like the average person who lives to be almost 80 to around 104 years.   What is also interesting is that not only do the fruit flies live longer but they were healthier as well.

Now imagine if we applied this genetic technique to someone who is already supposed to live to be over 100 years old?

There is a whole group of people, known as Centenarians, that have lived to be over 100 years old. We have found a short documentary about two Supercentenarians, from the Spice Mountains of South Western India who have lived to be over 110!  Check it out below!

If you found that interesting there are rumors that a man in China lived to be around 250 years old! Li Ching Yuen was an herbalist who practiced Qigong and said his secret to long life was to possess the following traits in your life:

  • Tranquil mind
  • Sit like a tortoise
  • Walk sprightly like a pigeon
  • Sleep like a dog

In addition to that list here are 9 Activities that are linked to a longer life!

Being Spiritual–  Having some sort of spiritual practice or belief has been linked to longer lives.  You don’t have to be a specific religion or even believe in God to qualify for this category.  Having a reverence for life and believing in something more than yourself is enough to enjoy the benefits of a longer life.

2. Health or Healing knowledge– As you heard in the video above both of our Supercentenarians were known for their knowledge and ability to heal others.  Perhaps the knowledge of healing isn’t only for ourselves.  Perhaps science will find a spark of longevity in those who take the time to ease the suffering of others. What is Love? A Sacred Geometry Experiement

Have you ever heard of Helixileh? It’s a game created by David Beler, a guy who has passionately studied the Flower of Life for many years, and has used it to create a mind-map-esque game where you explore the most intimate recesses of your mind, essentially by mapping out and following the connections that come to your head as you analyze different words, thoughts and feelings.

In this Helixileh, we have analyzed the meaning of Love, and used the words that came up to create a few paragraphs describing love beneath it :) We started with the word “Love” in the center, and then continued to spiral all around it making patterns and connections between the energies until we ended up at the very end.

If you’d like to learn more about Helixileh and the Flower of Life, we’ve put together a video about it below to explain it in more detail :) Enjoy!

New Years Reflection and the “Point” of Spirituality

livewithwonderWhat is the purpose of spirituality? Why is it so meaningful to me? For me, these are deep, powerful questions, questions that cannot be dismissed with a simple, surface answer.

I’ve decided that, with this being the New Year, it’s a good time not for resolutions, but for reflection, though the latter certainly has the potential to inspire the former. Reflection can liberate us, and it can imprison us. It all depends on the reflection you see. Some of the questions I’m about to ask may even appear to come from a negative place. For me however, they don’t. They are in my opinion, “growth questions.” Hard questions we have to answer for ourselves so we can grow. It’s like pulling out a thorn. It hurts, but it’s necessary for healing to take place.

I have decided to list the questions, and then give personal answers that I myself have found for these. Maybe you have a better answer. If so, tell me in a comment. Drop me an email. I would love to hear what you have to say. Onto the questions. I’ll start with the first one I mentioned.

What is the purpose of spirituality? Continue reading
