Lovers on the Cusp: Everything You Need to Know About Zodiac Cusps and Dating

Have you ever noticed that folks at the beginning or end of a zodiac sign express their sign with a different flavor? The days right at the transition of a sign are called “cusps” and while not all astrologers agree that the cusps are real (some say that your sign is your sign, period, regardless of the day) it’s undeniable that those clustered within the cusp days seem to have their own unique quality.

They may not be your typical Scorpio, for example if they’re born on the Libra or Sagittarius cusp, the Libran cusp being more diplomatic and intellectual, and the Sagittarian side more fiery and independent. They are still at the core a Scorpio, but with a twist, you could say. So what if you’re dating or crushing on one of the mysterious cusp types? Let’s take a look at how they do as mates and lovers.

Pisces-Aries (March 18th – 22nd) astrology

Ooh, fire + water = steam! Pisces and Aries are two of the most different signs in the entire zodiac, so this cusp blends the extreme sensitivity of the fish with the powerful courage of the ram. This makes for an exciting and somewhat unpredictable lover. What they lack in reliability can be made up by being creative and visionary.

This cusp is definitely a sexy one!

Their partners may find them complex or even a bit selfish, but the appeal of their uniqueness helps to balance that out.

You can win the heart of someone on this cusp by being both vulnerable and courageous. Either take the lead or be highly adaptable, but never just stagnate in the middle, or complain about circumstances with these cusp folks. Romantic gestures are treasured!

Aries-Taurus (April 17th – 21st)

Chalk it up to the blending Taurean sensuality with Aries boldness, but natives of this cusp are not shy about going after the object of their lust, no matter the odds. They are also the most likely of all the cusps to be attracted to people who are already taken! Or unavailable for some other reason.

The upside is that they make exciting and skillful lovers, as well as Taurean stability and faithfulness once they’re with the right person and ready to settle down. They’ll like a comfy home and to somehow feel as though their relationship is an epic adventure. An Aries-Taurus cusp partner is likely to have strong opinions and is not the most flexible, so it works best if they find someone a bit more go-with-the-flow than they are.

Taurus-Gemini (May 19th – 23rd)2555810245_astrology_sun_thumb16352555_answer_1_xlarge

Taurus is known for their steadiness while Gemini is constantly changing and can’t be pinned down, so those on this cusp will manage to be reliable partners and lovers, while always keeping it fresh and interesting at the same time. Or they may just confuse the heck out of you as you try to figure them out!

They tend to be people of strong body and mind, but may prefer you take the lead.

They add fun, wit, and a fresh perspective. Communication is important to them, as is having nice things. A delicious meal out with lots of sparkling conversation is a good date for them, or going to a museum to be around beautiful objects while learning new things.

Gemini-Cancer (June 19th – 23rd)

Cancer prioritizes emotional comfort and well-being, while Gemini can be flighty. These cusps may seem to contradict themselves — on one hand, they most want a stable, loving, comfortable relationship, but every time you turn around they seem to be gone or needing space!

These types want to know you care and like to have loving partners, but they also may not easily commit to showing up consistently or being on time. They want to feel free within the romance.

You can have a good relationship with these folks by allowing them their change of mood or desires, since it is likely only temporary, and then winning their heart with home-cooked meals, comfortable surroundings, and by sharing your smarts and expertise with them. This cusp is sometimes known as the ‘cusp of magic’ and these people can definitely have a magical air about them, making them extremely charming and interesting.

Cancer-Leo (July 21st – 25th)

They are likely to be expressive, creative, and cheerful.

Yes, they can sometimes tend toward the dramatic or come off as self-absorbed, so it’s best to handle their highs and lows with a lighthearted attitude and try not take it personally.

They will be most attracted to successful, bright, outgoing people who have a lot of confidence and career mastery!

Hard-working and driven to success, these folks do well when they feel they’re part of a power couple. Bonus points if you have an artful way of handling their stubbornness, these cusps definitely won’t want to be told what to do, but they are also very honest and hardworking, so overall they can have what it takes to make a passionate relationship work.

Those born on this cusp are likely to be attractive, analytical, and interested in communication. This is sometimes known as the ‘cusp of beauty’ since both the Libra and Virgo parts of these folks have high aesthetic standards and love striving for perfection and beauty.

As lovers, they are romantic and loyal! They can come across as overly critical or unrealistic in their expectations, so it can be helpful for them to partner with someone who can remind them of the fun and less serious side of life. These cusps are likely to be very social know lots of people, but definitely also need their alone time to recharge, so their ideal partners are up for going out and being seen at parties and events, while also having their own projects to keep them busy while the Virgo-Libra takes their alone time.

The combination of their excellent memory and attention to detail plus a strong romantic side offers many thoughtful romantic gestures and a partner who takes love and sex very seriously.

Libra-Scorpio (October 20th – 25th)

This cusp creates a romantic and sexy partner! Both of these signs are known for their charm and sex appeal, but in very different ways. This may leave you thinking these folks are a bundle of contradictions, but that just adds to the mystery!

One challenge for this cusp is the combination of lightness and intensity. On on hand, this cusp prioritizes harmony, but they place an equally emphasis on honesty and depth. It can be hard for them to decide if they just want to keep the peace or would rather shock those around them with their powerful truths.

As a lover, these cusps are likely to be very devoted and want to be in it for the long haul. Their Libra side may have a bit of a flirt, but once you have their full attention, it’s quite likely you’ll be able to keep it once they fall for you. They have a deep desire for commitment and intimacy. Libra-Scorpio cusps are very romantic and sexual, so they pair best with those who like to spend a lot of time and energy enjoying and honoring their partner.

Scorpio-Sagittarius (November 19th – 24th)

astralWell this is an exciting and interesting mix! Scorpio and Sagittarius are both passionate signs, so this is a cusp with some heat. They big thing to reconcile here is Scorpio’s love of loyalty and fixity combined with the Sagittarian need for freedom. These folks do well in committed relationships that allow room for adventure!

They can be fervent believers in what is most important to them, and have a dislike of apathy, so they do really well with a partners who shares their core beliefs and wants to build a life around them. This is sometimes known at the ‘cusp of revolution’ so the strength and rebel vibe is potent in their relationships! Among their strengths are good-humoredness and open-mindedness.

The challenges are a tendency to be secretive and quite blunt in their delivery. It helps if you, as their lover, don’t have an especially thin skin and can handle some intensity. If that works well for you, these cusps will make for an exciting, passionate and thought-provoking mate.

Sagittarius-Capricorn (December 19th – 23rd)

Sometimes known as the ‘cusp of prophecy’, these days of the year birth those who have a visionary quality. They combine the seer with the hard-working manifestor who can make it all happen!  If you are dating someone on this cusp, you may be confused by their pacing, sometimes wanting to be super spontaneous and do everything quickly, while just as often being quite driven toward thinking of the long-term while going slowly and steadily.

They are likely to be responsible, outgoing, and funny, making them great partners, especially for those who love to travel and are success-driven. They are drawn to lovers who are living for a higher ideal and will do what it takes to accomplish their dreams. To woo them, a luxe vacation to an intellectually stimulating or spiritual location would be a big one!

Capricorn-Aquarius (January 17th-22nd)

aquariusThese cusps folks are have a wide range of expression! Some flash their original and rebellious Aquarian side while others appear more conservation on the outside with the Capricorn shining through. These folks have high standards, a strong work ethic, and a serious nature.

If you’ve ever had a crush on one of these folks, you may have noticed they can be a bit aloof! While not the most classically romantic combination, what this cusp offers is a driven, intelligent, and cool-under-pressure person. If you want to build your empire with your lover, these folks are good candidates!

They are highly focused, smart, and quote loyal when you challenge them and keep them interested. They are best paired with those who are strong, unique, and have their own eccentric side, as well as those who lean more toward the romantic and can remind them of that side of life.

Aquarius-Pisces (February 16th-21st)

The Aquarius-Pisces cusp combines the wit and eccentricity of Aquarius with the dreamy, poetic nature of Pisces. These folks are natural artists and may write you a love song or poem! While you may need to take the lead in pursuing those on this cusp, you will be rewarded with an intriguing and romantic lover.

This cusp creates quite a sensitive person, but they don’t always know how to express their emotions. They pair well with someone who is grounded and/or fiery, to help spark them up or keep them steady when they find themselves swimming through the ether a bit too much!

Pisces-Aquarius cusp people can come off as distant or cold, and it may almost seem as if they are living in their own world, but if you can get through to their deeper self, you may enjoy getting to live in that world with them for a bit! If you can share their vision and stay in touch with the magical side of life, they have great potential as mystical mates.

  3. So how can I find details about compatibility for me and someone I’m interested in when we both happen to have been born on a Cusp? ?

    1. Google both cusp and compatibility. I’ve find that anyone I am drawn to always turns out to be a cusp. Coincidence? I really don’t think so, I think it might have to do with that cosmic attraction we cusp have to the unique.

  4. So how can I find details about compatibility for me and someone I’m interested in when we both happen to have been born on a Cusp?

  5. Wow I am an Aq-Pisc cusp the guy I’m dating is a Leo – Virg and this article explains a lot as far as behavior wise. I’m an emotional spaz light weight. Everything makes sense now never realized it.

  6. I’m. Born 2/16 and he’s 2/20 he wowed me twice he’s personality and the sex to were my I’ve been lost in my own head don’t knw what’s going on but I’m like him but cautious what do I do

  7. I am an A-P cusp guy (19th) and it has been such a relief to read about the cusp signs. I would read various Aqua/Pisces descriptions and could always relate to a little of both. I knew there was something about me that kept me distant from others, with weird psychic events occuring throughout my life. It’s true, I have a very open and compassionate heart and feel a need to help others to further themselves. I’d say the greatest downfall to this cusp is the battle we face we being adept at using both of our hemispheres. I grew up very rational thinking and that made me a bright kid, in an education system that emphasises numbers and logic. However we are also dreamers and creators and sometimes we can feel stagnant in our artistic pursuits because they just dont feel ‘right’. In terms of interpersonal relationships, we can suffer throat chakra blockages through our need to please others. We are conventionally smart and our perspective is particularly unique and even though we may believe we know better in a given situation, we may not contribute our ideas through a fear of ridicule or not wanting to appear abrupt and rude to others.
Seriously, reading about cusps as provided so much clarity to my life. I hope I can meet more cusps – maybe I will ask for these interactions through my meditations (seriously, the law of attraction seems to manifest our desires alot quicker than conventional – I can think about a person I haven’t seen in years and I will literally bump into them that day).

    1. A-P cusp here. I want to meet you all! I finally started getting into the law of attraction. I also have very strange psychic stuff that happens. Its very cool to read this!
