“For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.” – Steve Jobs

A daily life full of stress, plus the added pressure of society can cause people to make choices they do not think through.

Being out and away in nature, without too many distractions, can give you a nice opportunity to sit back and think your life over.

Often people discover that some alteration has to be made in their lives to fulfill their desires. The smallest shift start with yourself and your daily routine. And your daily routine starts with a good night sleep.

Camping helps restoring your sleep cycle

The average person is surrounded by screens and fabricated light constantly.

All these technological improvements can help us in many ways, but most definitely not with our sleep pattern.

Artificial light results in artificial sleep patterns. This, in combination with our usage of screens, like phones and tablets before sleep, results in insufficient production of the hormone melatonin; which in many cases results in sleep deprivation.

Camping helps to reset our natural body clock. Ever noticed that you wake up a lot earlier with ease when you camp? You synchronize with the sun, research shows that within a week time your body adapts to the cycle of nature. This means you awake around sunrise and go to bed just after sunset.

When the internal clock is synchronized, you will notice it is completely different than waking up early by an alarm. Feeling energized and surprisingly alert from the moment you wake up, compared to waking up sleepy and tired for a big part of the morning.

Goals are more easily reached, which brings a sense of fulfillment. Morning people tend to live an overall healthier and happier life. When the quality of your life rises, this spreads out to all the different aspects of your reality.

Next time you need a time-out from the vicious cycle, take a backpack, go into nature and reset yourself1
