How Each Zodiac Sign Handles Their Sadness

Sadness can be a difficult emotion to deal with. Different people can have different reactions to sadness.  Some of us don’t acknowledge it, some of us don’t clearly recognize it, and some let sadness become destructive.  It’s a tough journey, but learning to face and manage feelings of sadness in a healthy way can allow us to live a fuller life with more self-assuredness and sense of bravery.

Sadness in itself is a controversial topic. It is often paired as the opposite of happiness, and what exactly is happiness? How do we define it? Happiness too can be a subjective experience.

Sometimes we may be in search of constant feelings of extreme joy and bliss, without a trace of sad feelings. Sometimes we  may choose feelings of sadness without realizing, as it can at times feel more comfortable. As understandable as these points are, these can become unhealthy ways to relate to happiness or sadness, that don’t actually serve us.

That being said, sadness is a part of life. As one of my favourite poets Rumi says, “the wound is the place where the light enters you”.  Today we will be noting how different zodiacs may relate to sadness, and tips for how to deal with sadness in a healthy way.

Aries people are known to be courageous, optimistic, confident and passionate. During times of sadness, their fiery natures may make them prone to making impulsive decisions, as well as masking their pain with burning anger.

One way an Aries can serve their greater good while in this state is to ask themselves before making decisions, “will this [decision, action etc] really serve me?”

This can bring their conscious awareness to consider such a question, and make better decisions for themselves. Another way to better tune in to their feelings, is to meditate.

This can allow them to get better in touch with their emotions. If the stillness feels too daunting, perhaps planning an adventure where they can redirect their energy can help.

Taurus (April 20th – May 20th)

Taurus people are known to be dependable, practical, devoted and responsible. When experiencing sadness, they want to be shutterstock_308306837alone. While taurus people are known for being patient, during times of sadness they may find their patience waning.

Another situation that may happen for taurus during sadness is that they may sleep and eat more and irregularly, and “indulge in their vices to cope”.

While taurus like being alone in their sadness, it may help them to share their thoughts and feelings with a trusted friend or a professional counsellor. This can help them better cope with their pain.

During such times, practicing self-compassion, and realizing that we all experience hurt, pain and sadness at times can help.

Recognizing our pain as a human experience, while realising it also as an individual experience, can keep us from falling victim to our pain. Another recommendation would be to keep a routine, as that can keep us from falling deeper into our feelings of sadness in a way that doesn’t serve us. Once again, asking “will this act really serve my best interest?”, can keep us from making bad decisions.

 

Gemini (May 21st – June 20th)

Gemini people are known to be affectionate and curious thinkers. During times of sadness, their thinking abilities may be on full speed. Sometimes this over thinking can be a way to distract themselves, which Gemini tries to do when sad.  They may also fall into depression.shutterstock_382594525

When facing these periods of over thinking, what the brain often really needs is just relaxation. I know it’s easier said than done, however with practice, and just the knowing that we don’t need to have all the answers today, that becomes possible.

One effective way for a gemini experiencing this tendency to get through this period is through journalling.

This is an excellent way to give our thoughts another home, and time to sort themselves out. You will likely feel a lot of relief after doing this activity. When you’re ready, it can also be helpful to speak to a trusted friend, whose advice you trust and who will be objective. They can help us have a better understanding of the situation.

 

Cancer (June 21st – July 22nd)

shutterstock_121986982Cancer people have a highly active imagination, incredible sense of loyalty, and are naturals in the art of persuasion.

They also experience emotions deeply. Due to this reason, times of sadness may feel especially heavy. They may experience a lot of tears and feelings of loneliness. Joining a support group can be helpful, as it allows an avenue of connection, and a safe place to share strong feelings.

Doing grounding exercises can also be helpful. Taking time to connect with nature, and the Universe, or a Higher Power can deepen a sense of support and being looked after.

It can also remind us that we aren’t alone, but all connected to one another and something greater in some way. Journalling, and practicing an art is also a helpful activity.

 

Leo (July 23rd – August 22nd)

During times of sadness, leo can be very transparent with their emotions. Some may interpret their being open about their emotions as a form of exaggeration. They may also act or say things that hurt the people around them.

Leos are quick to bounce back from feelings of sadness. One way to cope with sadness for leo is to use their feelings to create art.

Perhaps a poem, a painting, an idea for a book may present itself.

Also, it’s important to take individual responsibility for our feelings, and be mindful not to react in ways that hurt other people when we are feeling down.

 

Virgo (August 23rd – September 22nd)

Virgo people are known to be loyal, kind and hardworking people. When experiencing sadness, they may prefer to be alone. They also may disconnect with their emotions by engaging in actions compulsively. When experiencing anger and sadness, they may become pessimistic and blunt, maybe even a little mean.

Journalling is a healthy way to connect with our emotions. Writing stories is also a way to reflect on our emotions while maintaining some level of distance.

Engaging in meditation or prayer can also help.

As for avoiding hurting others, once we can connect with the awareness that we aren’t feeling so great, we can gently give our loved ones a heads up on how we are feeling.

An “I’m not feeling my best today” can be all we need to say.  We can choose to be alone on such days, or keep conversations light.

 

Libra (September 23rd – October 22nd)

shutterstock_376051666Libra people are known for their sense of justice, diplomacy,  as well as agreeable and social natures. When experiencing sadness, libra’s may feel very moody and unstable. They may not want to reveal how they really feel to others, as people view them as full of life and positivity.

They may not want to lose their image.

Self-compassion is very important especially in such times. It helps to know that sadness is a human experience, and we don’t become lesser beings by having sad moments. It will pass, if we let it.

We can reach out to a trusted friend or counsellor to discuss our problems. Also, don’t be afraid to take time off from socializing and connecting when you need to.

 

Scorpio (October 23rd – November 21st)

Scorpios have a reputation for being brave, resourceful and tenacious. When experiencing sadness, they don’t bother hiding shutterstock_284270072it. They may have mood swings and their emotions may affect others.

When feeling such powerful charge of emotions, it can be helpful for us to take time alone for ourselves.

The tenacious and resourceful nature of the scorpio is sure to pose solid suggestions in how to best take care of our situations.

Better managing our emotions when we are alone can help us better manage our emotions when with other people.  This can help avoid a lot of conflict and hurt feelings.

Meditation and journalling can also help. When experiencing strong emotions, speaking to a counsellor can also help tremendously.

 

Sagittarius (November 22nd – December 21st)

shutterstock_108848726Sagittarius people are known to be funny, generous and idealistic people. They can experience very heavy emotions and become very depressed when feeling low.

However, they can also be resourceful in knowing how they can feel better when feeling sad and low. Sometimes this can lead to substance abuse; However, it doesn’t have to!

While sagittarius people tend not to seek support when feeling sad, turning to a trusted friend or counsellor can be very helpful for them.

Dialogue with a good counsellor can become a way to open up to the sound advice of others as well as ourselves, and pull ourselves back into our magic.

 

Capricorn ( December 22nd – January 19th)

shutterstock_342869825Capricorn people are known to have good self-control, and be disciplined and responsible.

When experiencing sadness, they may feel hopeless and pessimistic. Like gemini people, capricorn people may also begin to overthink too much in face of sadness.

While experiencing such emotions, it helps to reach out to people we can trust. It helps to surround ourselves with a positive support team.

Speaking to a good counsellor can also help, as they can suggest exercises we can use to feel more positive and optimistic as well as have a more objective understanding of a situation.

 

Aquarius (January 20th – February 18th)

Aquarius people are known to be unique, progressive and independent people.

They are thought to detach from their emotions, and live in their heads. During times of sadness, they may engage in this same approach, and avoid talking about their emotions.

It can be helpful for aquarius people to journal their thoughts, and seek ways to connect with their emotions in a healthy way.

They can use their experiences to become more evolved on their journey, and also help other people.

 

Pisces (February 19th – March 20th)

Pisces people are known to be wise, compassionate and artistic souls. During times of sadness, they may  become stuck in negative emotions, and re-live past hurts. They may become very pessimistic.

shutterstock_313627550Engaging in acts of self-compassion can help us nurture our hurt feelings before they cry out even more.

Practicing meditation, speaking to a counsellor, and journaling can help us make sense of what we know, and make peace with what we do not know, and move forward on our journeys.

Here were some basic points on how each of the zodiac signs reacts to experiences of sadness, and some suggestions that can help them better manage their emotions.

Hopefully by engaging in such practices during tough times, we can navigate ourselves through seas of tough times requiring faith in the unknown, self-understanding and self-care!
