Our creative desires are what help us to see the beauty in all things. Creativity and imagination are two forces inside us which contribute to achieving positive results, in any capacity.
They lead us to discover new ideas, strengthen our resolve, and give us courage to face new challenges- a beneficial “what if” of sorts.
Allowing yourself time to develop those inner-forces will undoubtedly assist in many facets of your life. Give yourself space to grow, and watch the beauty transform your life. The following list shines light on some of the more useful approaches to sparking your creativity, and igniting your imagination.
1. Find what energizes you, and do it.
There are many activities and situations that can either drain us or invigorate us. Spending time doing the things that fill you with energy will get those creative juices flowing.
Even being around certain people, “muses,” can help inspire you. If you enjoy doodling, and being on the beach, then take a trip to the beach and bring your sketchpad.
Doing things that make you feel good and vitalize your body and mind can contribute to better health and a more positive outlook.
2. Appreciate the beauty in something or someone.
Every day, take a few minutes to truly appreciate something beautiful about something or someone.
It could be as simple as the delicate wings of a butterfly, or as complex as the way in which a person describes their day.
Taking time to notice little things, like quirks, habits, smiles, or even an ant crossing the pavement, gives you the chance to be thankful for them. By appreciating the beauty around us, we inevitably find more things to be beautiful.
3. Let go of your fear.
It sounds harder than it is, I promise. Once a week, try to do something that scares you or causes you slight fear. If you have a fear of spiders, go to a pet store and ask to hold a tarantula.
If you are afraid of social interaction, maybe take your friend up on that offer to grab lunch somewhere.
An important part of fueling your creativity, is releasing your fears. Of course, your fears can stimulate creativity as well. Just not the right kind.
4. Revert back to childhood.
If you’ve ever asked a child a serious question, you have probably heard an answer that took you by surprise. That’s because children still possess the belief that “anything is possible.”
It is that innate sense of possibility which can trigger an enormous creative response. Take 15 minutes a day and let your inner-child out to play. Give yourself time to laugh at the silly things, and maybe see how different the world looks when you are sitting upside down.
5. Go outside.
I cannot stress this enough: spending time outside positively benefits you in almost any situation.
If there is an answer you are seeking, go outside and I bet you will receive the clarity you were searching for.
We often consume ourselves with busyness and forget to breathe. Take your lunch outside for a change, or stop at the park on your way home from work. However you do it, just do it.
6. Get plenty of rest.
Everyone knows that sleep is good for your health, but it is also wonderful for stimulation of your creative processes. If you have trouble sleeping, try creating a safe space for your slumber.
Pay attention to your breathing, and let go of the daily stress you accumulated.
Getting plenty of sleep rejuvenates the mind and body, allowing for sharper creative connections throughout the day.
Overall, listen to yourself. These 6 tips are helpful, but it is always important to pay attention to your heart and what it is saying to you.
