The Psoas: The Hidden Muscle of The Soul

How much of your day is spent sitting? At your desk, in the car? If the answer is “Most of my time” then you may have locked hips, which not only effect your dancing ability but actually is an underlying cause of undue stress and fear.

There is a long muscle on the side of the vertebral column and pelvic brim, it’s called the Psoas Muscle, or, the muscle of the soul.

shutterstock_303068030The Psoas Muscle (pronounced so-as) is where we oftentimes store trauma and stress and it can directly influence many aspects of our lives, from our mood to our outlook on life.

An unhealthy thinking and negative outlook on life can not only harm us, but those who choose to be around us. But luckily, we can release this pent up fear inside!

Being the only muscle that connects spine to leg, the Psoas is what holds us upright and enables us to walk by lifting our legs. When functioning optimally, the psoas keeps our spine stable and supports the upper body.

Politicians, the news and propaganda are very easily manipulating us and putting us in a state of fear as they have learnt how to control our reptilian brains, which correlate directly to the Psoas muscle via connective tissue or fascia.

Our hectic life styles which drain us physically and mentally prevent our bodies from naturally releasing the stress we have built up, and this puts our minds and bodies in a constant state of anxiety and fear. Continue reading

The Amazing Benefits of Using a Neti Pot

Have you ever heard of a neti pot?

shutterstock_321375551Becoming more and more popular around the world and in the US, this Ayurvedic traditional therapy dates back thousands of years. It is an excellent option for those not wanting to use western medication for issues like allergies and sinus problems. Over the counter medications can cause many unpleasant side effects, which is why using a neti pot is on the rise!

Your nasal passage hold a very important function – being the body’s first defense against irritants, allergens and even pollution. Using a neti pot helps flush mucus out and keeps your nasal passage healthy.

The neti pot is an affordable and quick solution to all your nasal issues, so why not give it a try?

A neti pot can be made from various materials, such as plastic or steel or even copper. It looks like a long spouted teapot.

Filling the pot with a saline solution, you poor it into your nostril, this is a form of nasal saline irrigation therapy. The solution flushes out mucus and toxins by flowing through your nasal passage, it then exists the opposite nostril. The process is repeated by pouring into your other nostril.

Many neti pots are available with pre-packaged saline solution, however you can easily make your own, just add a half teaspoon of salt to a cup of warm water.

Every day we breathe in allergens, irritants and pollution, this can cause allergies and increased mucus production. Allowing your nasal passage to stay congested can increase the chance of infection.

When we use a neti pot to rinse out our nasal passages we can relieve symptoms, and if done early enough we can prevent horrible sinus infections and colds. Continue reading
