Powerful Words From The Late, And Still Great: Muhammad Ali

As many of you already have heard, Muhammad Ali passed away earlier today. He was an inspiration to many, and on so much more than just a “fighting” level.  Yes, he was a boxer, and an incredible one at that, but he was also a human rights advocate.  The battles he fought were conducted in more arenas than a boxing ring.

He stood up for equal rights, and publicly spoke out against racism in a time when it was dangerous to do so. He refused to participate in the Vietnam war and encouraged others to do the same.  Although Ali was a a man of violence inside the ring, he worked non-violently for peace and justice outside of it. He was an inspiration to countless individuals, myself included.160604012743-03-muhammad-ali-0604-large-169

If you mention Muhammad Ali, one thing will come to mind about his personality- he had a very flamboyant and egotistical manner of speaking. He had a reason for being that way, and it might not be what you think. Of course, he was the greatest boxer of his time (and probably all time) so he mentioned that fact whenever he had the chance.

But, he also used his fame and eccentricity to publicly denounce the amount of money being funded for war, the mandatory involvement in the Vietnam war, racism, and militarism.  Ali spoke about the relation of the federal taxes he paid and his disagreement with how the U.S. government was disbursing those enormous funds, by saying,

“I buy a lot of bullets, at least three jet bombers a year, and pay the salary of fifty thousand fighting men with the money they take from me after my fights.”

Muhammad Ali refused to participate in the Vietnam war, even after being told that defying the draft would cause his career to fall apart, and probably land him in jail.  Part of that turned out to be true. In 1967 Ali was arrested and sentenced to 5 years in prison. The decision was overturned in 1970, and after spending 3 years in prison, Ali was reinstated as the world heavyweight champion by the World Boxing Organization. This is what Ali said when he was asked to explain his stance on the Vietnam war, Continue reading

100% Of California Wines Tested Found To Contain Glyphosate

Recently,  Moms Across America received test results from Microbe Inotech Lab which showed 10 different California wines tested positive for glyphosate contamination, including organic brands. These shocking results follow in the footsteps of similar news published in February, when Germany’s 500 year old purity law for beer was questioned after finding 14 of the country’s most popular beers contained glyphosate.

glyphosate-in-wineTen different brands of California wines were tested, including organic varieties. Of these 10, 100% were found to contain what the World Health Organization has deemed “a probable carcinogen.”

This is a huge problem. Organic vineyard owners who claimed to have never sprayed their property with chemicals are finding glyphosate in their product, likely due to over-spraying, or airborne drift. Because glyphosate can remain active in the soil for over 20 years, a farmer who uses Roundup can effectively contaminate a neighboring organic farmer’s crops for decades without them knowing.

There is so much information available regarding the dangers of glyphosate, and how harmful it is to humans, animals, and the environment, yet some people are still on the fence. Continue reading

Color Psychology: How The Color of Your Room Affects Your Mood

The colours in our surroundings can have a tangible impact on our mood, emotions and personality. Have you ever noticed how your feelings might change when you enter a light blue room, versus a dark red one? There is a science to how colours affect us.

Every room in your house can introduce positivity and overall good vibrations- if they are painted with colours that evoke healthy responses.

To better understand which colours are most beneficial in which rooms, you must first identify the room’s primary function.

After you’ve decided if this room will be for relaxation, entertainment, or several other options, you can move on to choosing a colour that fits your personality and will create the space you desire.

I’m going to explain what rooms do better with which colours, and why.

Kitchen
The kitchen can be a lively room with lots of activity and movement, depending on how frequently you cook and how often you have guests. Colour analysts suggest painting your kitchen red, orange, or yellow.
The colour red is known to trigger the appetite. So, if you’re on a diet it’s probably best to avoid this one.

Orange is an energetic colour and helps to raise vibrations.

An Alternative To Smoking: The CannaCloud Vaporizer Is The Keurig For Cannabis

cannacloudHave you heard of CannaCloud?

This revolutionary vaporizer allows for a single-use cannabis experience, using pre-packaged pods. Single-serving pods of medicinal cannabis? That’s right, and you can choose different CannaCups to vaporize; Sativa, Indica, hybrid, or even CBD-only strains, depending on your specific needs.

If it sounds like a “greener” version of the Keurig, there’s a very good reason. The CEO and chairman of CannaKorp, Dave Manly, is also the former senior vice president of the Keurig company.

Colorado and Washington approve marijuana legalization

During his 13 years as senior vice president at Keurig, he increased the company’s annual revenue from $50 million to over $5 billion. Maybe he’ll have the same impact on this startup as well.

In CannaCloud’s press release from November 2015, Manly said, “The CannaCloud system reminds me a lot of the early days at Keurig—it offers a similar consumer proposition of speed and convenience and consumers exposed to the CannaCloud really love it.” Continue reading

Soul Mates Are Actually Our Soul Mirrors – Here’s Why:

“People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.”
– Elizabeth Gilbert

I remember when I was in my 20’s and still held onto the misconceived romantic notion of a “soul mate.”

You know the one: one day you will meet the man or woman of your dreams and they will fix all of your broken pieces, thereby making you complete.  That concept is wildly inaccurate, in regards to what an actual soul mate really is- a mirror.

When we believe there is another person who can make us whole, we are ineffectually calling ourselves “incomplete,” and we are anything but that.  We have the power within ourselves to achieve that oneness; we really mustn’t try to find the answers to our problems in another.

By thinking we are only halves meant to become whole, we are in fact searching for others who see themselves as halves as well. But what does this accomplish? If you feel like a shattered spirit, then you probably attract the same .
