Not a lot of people have even heard of Yerba Mate, that is, unless you live in South America, in which case you probably drink it more than Coffee. However, in the rest of the world it has mostly remained a novelty drink.
This is however, rapidly beginning to change, with more and more information present and available as to its magical benefits.
Here are 5 reasons to switch from Coffee, to Yerba Maté!
1. It’s stimulation lasts much longer!
Obviously, both Coffee and Yerba Mate contain Caffeine and thus cause a bodily and mental stimulation. Both contain roughly 75-80 mg of caffeine in an average cup. However, the caffeine in Yerba Mate seem to work differently.
Most research shows that the stimulation lasts much longer than Coffee, and simultaneously seems to induce a sense of wellbeing! It both stimulates you, and soothes you at the same time.
2. Antioxidants galore!
It has an extraordinarily high level of Antioxidants, which neutralize disease-causing molecules!
3. All of the Heals!
Yerba Maté reduces blood pressure, bad cholesterol, colon cancer, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and is a natural laxative!
4. Maté Appears to be Adaptogenic
Adaptogenic is a name for an herb that comes close to being a “cure-all”. Adaptogenic herbs are a particular class of powerful herbs that support health in ways that we don’t see from most common plants.
Adaptogenic herbs contain the right amount of antioxidants and saponins that build resistance to disease and have a normalizing influence on the body with a bidirectional effect on physiological function. (Meaning, regardless of what disease you have, the herb will still address ALL of the organism and system to restore health!)
5. It’s far less acidic.
Coffee is a very acidic drink by nature. Over time, the high acid content of our stomachs does support a balanced bodily PH, and thus we become susceptible to the negatives with having a high acid body.
Yerba Maté on the other hand, does not contain the same levels of acidity at all. In fact, it’s straight up Alkaline!
Heres a video we made about it too, as a part of our new series: Everyday Magical Things!
